The Kiel family has been providing quality equipment to their customers for over 20 years. Glenn and Gerald Kiel founded Franklin County Equipment Rental, Inc. in 1989 as a small equipment rental and used farm equipment store. The brothers quickly expanded the business to include Kubota tractors and John Deere mowers. Their dedication to offering the best equipment, along with their willingness to give their customers first rate service after the sale, brought customers to the small community of Tharptown in eastern Franklin County for their farm and lawn equipment purchases. Glenn and Gerald decided to close the business in 1998 and pursue other endeavors.
In 1996, Jamie Kiel opened his own equipment rental store on Hwy 43 in Russellville, AL next to Dr. Morissette's clinic. With the help of long time employees Sam Bradford and Earl Saint, and with the addition of the John Deere brand of lawn equipment in 1998, the business quickly outgrew this location. In 2000, after an extensive remodeling, Kiel Equipment hosted a "Grand Opening" at the new store just 1/2 mile south of the old store on Hwy 43 at the former site of the Franklin County Co-op. The location change proved successful as Kiel Equipment continued to grow into a regional business serving customers from the tri-state area. With a larger showroom, shop, and warehouse, Kiel Equipment continued to offer more great products. The current lineup of equipment includes Gravely Zero Turn Mowers (2000), Walker Mowers (2008), and Stihl handheld equipment (2008). Kiel Equipment also continues to be the only equipment rental store in Franklin County. Our team of professionals continue in the Kiel tradition of offering the best equipment and superior service to the customers who make this business a success.
